Uncrustables

Since the dawn of the century, there have been many inventions that have changed the very fabric of humanity. The microchip, the cell phone, computers, cars, planes and the George Foreman grill - to name a few. Yet, none have had a greater impact on my life than Uncrustables.

These ready-made discs of pure excellence were developed in 1995 in Fargo, North Dakota., by Len Kretchman and David Geske, two fathers who began mass-producing them for Midwestern schools. Since then, they have become a mainstay in my life and the lives of others across the globe, and maybe even the universe.

The concept is simple as it is elegant. Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches ready to eat and prepackaged for on-the-go eating like the world has never known.

Prior to release of Ucrustables, PB and J aficionados were forced to craft the sandwich by hand. It was a messy time to be sure. But those times are long gone. No longer must we sully our hands. No longer must we scrape the bottom of a jar with a knife too short to reach. Nay, I say to thee. We need only open a package and feast!
